Default Just thinking out loud about...

not liking the idea of Falcon being intertwined with Pro Tools on a subscription basis as opposed to, say, the AIR instruments that are included with it that are actually yours upon purchasing Pro Tools. Falcon is a very cool plug-in, but thinking ahead into the future, is it going to be apart of Pro Tools in the future? That is to say, will it be apart of Pro Tools from here on out or at some point will it be discontinued leaving the users who used it in sessions high and dry without the plug-in resulting in the situation of them having to go back and change out the plug-in in the sessions they used it in or purchase it?

I have not used it in a session yet for that reason. I like actually owning my instrument plug-ins and do not like the idea of using a plug-in that later on I will not have access to if recall the session. Albeit, I know some may not have no problem with it. But I am just thinking out loud here about my personal take on the situation. I am just not sure it will be included with future versions of Pro Tools, so I am uneasy about including it in my sessions without actually owning it.

Agreed. I'm subscription free and staying that way. I have avoided using Falcon for the same reason.

The way subscriptions have gone in some quarters, there's no guarantees. I would have been pretty peeved if I had been a Slate customer when plugins were removed from the subscription on more than one occasion. No, I do not want to switch to another plugin or purchase a plugin that I have already paid for in the subscription! I want compatibility with the Sessions, past, present and future. Slate made another good reason not to subscribe, no matter how much Steven think I should give him my monthly "coffee money"

Sorry but lame excuse to not try the free demo. If you like it and do not like subscription, you get discounted upgrade to full Falcon and I believe also voucher for extra soundbanks if you drop the dollars.

I hear you on that one, Stephen. I tend to stay away from subscriptions for that reason. The only plug-in subscription I have ever even signed up for is the Kilohearts bundle that includes all their plug-ins because it is basically a rent to own situation stemming from you getting 100 dollars back each year to go toward purchasing the plug-ins. 20 dollars a year for all their plug-ins with the rest you pay going toward the purchase of the plug-ins is a deal I could not pass up, so I dived into that one.

Renting to own situations are not as up-in-the-air as subscriptions without the option, but again, I know some people have no problem with them, so I am just speaking personally here. I like owning my plug-ins, or at the very least as in the Kilohearts bundle, with movement toward owning them at a later date.

Oh. I did try it out. It is very cool and I probably would of included it in a session already if I actually had the assurance I would have the plug-in at a later date. As of this point, I do not have that assurance, so I am not using it in a session until I make the call to purchase it or Pro Tools actually includes it with Pro Tools apart from it being on a subscription basis or apart of a yearly upgrade plan for those who own Pro Tools (which is my situation).

That's correct. Its worth every penny to just buy the program at the discount and the extra soundbanks vouchers. Falcon is a monster of a VI!

Purchase Falcon and you get a $100 US voucher to use on any future purchase from UVI. You also get 2 free UVI expansions. That's what I did as I also use Digital Performer so I need falcon to work across different daws. Once pone wraps their head around the complexity of Falcon it's, as Donald says, a monster of a VI
