Mbox/Pro Tools LE issue with SampleTank input device config
Hi,
I'm running PT LE 6.9 with an original Mbox and using SampleTank 2.5 as an RTAS plugin. I can control the plugin and sounds quite easily using the mini onscreen keyboard. However, I'd like to control SampleTank using my Roland JV-30 as the input device. This is what I'm having some trouble with. I've connected my Roland JV-30 keyboard to my laptop using a MIDIsport 1x1 USB controller. When I open SampleTank in standalone mode, I can use my Roland JV-30 to control it. However, in PT the plugin does not seem to recognize my keyboard as the input device. I've tried adding the JV-30 in the MIDI audio device setup. I am not really sure what else I might need to do to get this working? Any help is much appreciated. Cheers, Steve |

Re: Mbox/Pro Tools LE issue with SampleTank input device config
Have you installed the lastest MidiSport drivers for WinXP?
If you click on the input tab of a MIDI or Instrument track (the MIDI input of the Instrument track, to be more specific), do you see the MidiSport 1x1 input available? Do you have MIDI Thru checked in the Options menu? |

Re: Mbox/Pro Tools LE issue with SampleTank input device config
Hi,
Here are steps I followed to answer your questions: 1) Installed the latest driver from the Midisport site. 2) In Setups -> MIDI Studio Setup I can see the Midisport USB device as an Input and Output port option. I create a device called Roland using this menu. 3) Set my default MIDI thru device to my Roland, Channel 1 in Setups -> Preferences -> MIDI I can see the Roland as an option for an input on a MIDI track. I cannot see the Roland as an input option for a Aux/Audio track. Also, I can do the following - I can record input from the Roland to a MIDI track, however, I hear nothing while I press the keys during the recording. However, I can route the output of the recorded MIDI track to a SampleTank insert on an Aux track and I can see the MIDI notes being played back. What I would like to do is be able to press the keys on my Roland and hear the MIDI information played back through the SampleTank insert in real time. This is essentially what I can do when I run SampleTank standalone as a VI engine. Is this possible using my setup? Thanks again for your help. Cheers, Steve |

Re: Mbox/Pro Tools LE issue with SampleTank input device config
Ok, I finally have it figured out.
I made SampleTank my default thru instrument, and I enabled Midi Thru on the Midi dropdown menu. That was the missing link. Thanks again for your help. Steve |
