Command 8 shipping?

Does anyone know if the C8 is shipping or know when it is supposed to ship? I have already talked to two dealers and I can't get an answer to this. I would buy it today if it were out. Maybe someone from Digi would be kind enough to enlighten me.

Further to that, Command|8 apparently ships with a PT 6.4 installer; but does that include a license to actually run 6.4? Or would there be an additional fee?

Does anyone know a street price on this guy? Does everyone think it is worth it? Does anyone think there is a better option out there? Thanks

Street price is $1199 and I think it is worth it because it was built for PT. I'm not really worried about how the faders feel or any of that stuff because its going to allow me to work about 20 times faster and to me that makes it worth every penny. You have dedicated functions, ability to control the gain on the PRE if you have one (I do) and stuff like plugin controls, fader flip, plus the monitor section which is weak but its a lot better than nothing.

I called the Digi "Pre-Sales" line today, and I was told that PT 6.4 LE ships with Command|8, since it's a free update for LE users anyway, but TDM users must buy the 6.4 update separately, in addition to Command|8.

That makes it a little less compelling for me. I'll probably get one, but will wait a while to see if there are any kinks to work out.

Maybe something else will pop up in the meantime. (MotorMate?)

Hmmm.... I recall that thread now, but since then I have heard the following:

- PT 6.4 TDM license included in purchase price of Command|8 (aforementioned thread)

- PT 6.4 LE is included with Command|8, but TDM users must purchase PT 6.4 update (from Digi Pre-Sales line).

- TDM users running PT 5.3 (likely) must purchase PT 6.4 and PT 6.1 updates to use Command|8 (from a local Digi Dealer, admittedly guessing).


I guess time will tell, but it would be nice to know what the real scoop is. Of three local dealers I've called, one said, "Probably, Yes", one said, "Probably, No", and one said, "Dunno."

This information should really be stated clearly in the Command|8 information releases on the website; one way or the other.
