Default Waves v7 licenses?

Hey guys, how are you?

Maybe you can help me (already contacted Waves, but I´m pretty sure they´re gonna suggest WUP or something like that)...

I have some v7 licenses that I would like to use (I´m on 10.9.5)... Is there any way to use them w/o upgrading them to 9? Licenses show on my Waves account and my ilok account... Any tips?

Cheers!

You can use them for the platforms that are supported. If you need support for more current platforms, you need to update your licenses.

You can download the v7 installer here (if not already done) and use your existing licenses without any WUP, if you can meet system requirements for v7 and run it with a supported host.

So, most probably, to use v7 you will need to downgrade your system to 10.5.x. Before you do, make sure you have a supported DAW to work properly on this system! And check if v7 supports this DAW!

Otherwise, you will need to WUP your stuff in order to upgrade it to v9. Note that subsequent downgrade afterwords is not possible anymore (you lose your iLok licenses which are replaced with the new Waves ones, because Waves stopped working with iLok).

Hope this helps. Cheers!

This is incorrect.

Your're right that Waves doesn't use iLok any longer, but for that very reason once you WUP your V7/V8 to latest, you get to keep that old license bundle on your iLok *AND* get new current version licenses from their own license central.

But if you WUP from V7 to V9, there is no way you could get Waves Support to upgrade your V7 to V8 -- they just won't touch those iLok licenses any longer.

Ah, yes, thanks for correction. Still, as soon as you upgrade to v9, Waves stops supporting your previous licenses (at least what I understood from here), e. g. if you lose your iLok, there is no way to restore v7 licenses.

That is correct. (Been there.)
