Well, people who are much more knowledgable, much more successful
and doing much more musically sounding stuff...
And I was just lucky to get to know them back in the days (neither my
friends nor being in contact with them today) and just happy to have
listened to their advice...as they were not the only ones confirming it...

Nevertheless the Apollos are very good units as well as the plugs are
very good ones but actually there is a world beyond the "good old Apollo garden"
as well...

May everybody do what feels right for himself. No problem for me personally.

Have a musical 2015 everybody.

I was already pretty positive that the Quartet's converters were superior to the Apollo (and probably most other [if not all] interfaces in it's class), but what about it's mic pres? How do they hold up against the Apollo and others in it's class? Also, how does the latency hold up on the Quartet w/ it's USB 2 connection?

Thanks,
-Adam

Well the "Good old Apollo Garden" has come a long way and your "more knowledgeble" people are wrong if you still believe that a Quartet has anything better than any of the Apollo interfaces.

And when you say much more knowledge and more musical stuff you mean better than your work i hope as you you can't say that your old frineds know mor than us and do more musical stuff better than we do...

Its just plain wrong and I don't know why you keep this up!

We work with some of the Biggest studios in the world as we travel 60% of the year and best producers in the world who have hit songs on the Billboard chart every week and none of them would ever say such a thing so maybe you should listen to "friends of today" rather than from "back in the day"!

I am not saying that the Quartet sounds bad or anything but better than the Apollo cards is not gonna happen.

I could go on and name drop all day but I have made my case and I'll stick to that.

Exacly - Start the UA METER icon and choose Plugins. There you can access the demo of each plugin for a full 14 day trial

Thanks again to everyone for all the help you've given me on my DAW purchase. It was a letdown not being able to afford the QUAD, but I'm sure I'll get by alright w/ the DUO. I don't have any money left to buy any additional plugins, but that Analog Classics Bundle along w/ the promo offer of the 610A preamp, neve 88RS channel strip and EMT 140 plate reverb will do just fine for starters. I noticed that the classic bundle includes the 610-B, what's the difference between the A and B?

Thanks again,
adam

I don't know but there's plenty of documentation in the Universal audio store about the differences

The 610A is the original while B is the modern design. Speaking of their plugins, the big promo they were offering that was supposed to end on Dec 31 is now listed as ending March 2015! What a bunch of schemers! When I was checking out all the plugins I noticed that they have a Summit Compressor, but not the Channel Strip. When I was trying out Softube plugins they have the Summit Grand Channel which is the Strip and Compressor in one (you can also buy them separately). The channel strip was amazing. All their plugs are 60% off for the next couple weeks (unless they are using UA tactics). For only $110 my next plugin purchase might not even be UA! Although modding my pair of MCA SP1's will prob be my next project. Too bad Jim Williams stop doing his mod. Anyone try the DIY microphone parts mod that is supposed to mimic what Jim was doing? The Michael Joly SP1 mod seems awesome, but it's almost double the price.
