PT doesn't see apollo with thunderbolt cable

I've just upgraded to PT 11 and an apollo interface. It works fine with firewire. However, with a thunderbolt cable, PT doesn't see the interface and will only play through the computer. Yet the UA Control app sees the interface and functions with it.

What could be causing this?

System info? Driver version? When you say "does not see" what exactly does this mean? Does it show up as an option in the playback engine menu?

PT 11.2.1. Mac OS 10.9.2. UA software version 7.10.

Right, it doesn't show up in the playback engine menu, so playback is only possible through the mac's outputs. Yet UA's Control app connects with the apollo.

Yes but what driver software? You have the latest PCIe drivers and Thunderbolt firmware from UAD? What Mac? And you just have a plain Thunderbolt cable going from the Mac to the Apollo?

Your Apollo should no longer "work fine" with Firewire if you have set it up properly to use Thunderbolt. Are you following the UAD documentation? http://www.uaudio.com/support/thunderbolt-support

thanks for the details. silly me, i assumed that i could run either firewire or thunderbolt with the same software. i'll download the UA 7.10.1 software to enable thunderbolt.
