Default Complete Production Toolkit....Lite?

Are there any options other than the $2k CPTK in order to get Surround channels and multiple quicktimes into a PT 9 Session?

I really only need those 2 features...am I truly stuck either staying with LE 8 or shelling out almost TEN TIMES the amount of the basic crossgrade just to be able to get those two things? Seriously?

So... if you're stuck in LE8, does that mean you have an existing toolkit that does give you these features?

Yes, DV Toolkit 2, and I see now there's an upgrade for $299...which is better for sure, but still a lot to spend for 2 features.

Oh well.

Guess I'll just bend over in the interest of progress.

PT 9 HD Might cost you a bit more than CPTK2 though.

just be aware once you upgrade the Tk you will lose the ilok authorization for DVTK2. If you still need to be able to work in 8 LE you have to ask avid for a license which they will deposit in your ilok account for 2 years. It will show up as DVTk2 Not for sale.

Honestly, the $299 upgrade is a great deal. If was upgrading from the DV Toolkit, I wouldn't have hesitated for a moment to go for the full CPTK.

It may seem like bending over now... but I have a feeling you won't regret it later.

HD2 -

I have an HD2 Accel system, now running 9HD. The whole issue for me is being able to seamlessly take sessions home with me to work on at night on the laptop/LE system. This necessitates surround channels and multiple quicktimes.

I was just hoping that these features would be included with 9...but alas no.

Dism -

It would be a great deal if I used more than those 2 features.....

I thin they made it pretty clear that to get the surround and more video tracks you would need CPTK2.
Another feature you will need is the Soundcode Stereo plug-in which is included. That way you will get an LoRo from your 5.1 session so you can hear everything.

What do you do with the ilok that has the PT9HD license on it at night? If you plug it into your laptop you'll get PT9+CPTK when you fire up PT9. May not be possible in your situation but just a thought.
