quick question-MIDI/Kontakt (or any 3rd party software)
hey all,
--new to the world of midi, and rearin' to go! i use pt le, mbox, an m-audio controler, and just got native instruments' "kontakt 2" as my software. yahoo. Lotsa fun. When i get it goin! I'm getting levels and am able to record/playback with the controler on a midi track, but .... I CANNOT HEAR IT (using my mbox as my monitor) i suspect that pt is not receiving the software. or....? (i got it up and running easily in garage band) i have my ins and outs set according to the manuals. am i missing a step? Can you give it a shot? I'd appreciate it greatly. Thanks mucho, happy music-making!!!! Talia |

Re: quick question-MIDI/Kontakt (or any 3rd party software)
What version of PT are you using? If you're on PT7, then you just want to use an 'Instrument Track', one stop shopping for soft-synth tracking.
If you're on a previous version, you need both a MIDI track and an Aux track... the instrument goes on the Aux track and you set the MIDI track's output to go to that instrument. |

Re: quick question-MIDI/Kontakt (or any 3rd party
hi. thanks!!
(i'm using pt le 6) and before i waste any time: i'm using rtas---is that right? and using kontakt as a plug-in, not stand alone. right again? i am really in over my head (!) but learning to swim fast. Not to sound dim, but....is the instrument the controler or the software? this is simpler than i think....i just need to grasp the basics!! (The kontakt manual says: using rtas w/ pt: create an aux and a midi track, choose kontakt for the aux plug in and kontakt again for the midi output. That is, if i am best off using rtas. I just guessed) THANKS so much. Your help is greatly appreciated. Talia ps--in the 'set up audio' MIDI window for kontakt, it did not show any in or out interfaces (as in....my mbox) --but kontakt still worked fine in garage band. Thanks again. I owe you one. |
