Default noooob question to do with filing...

Hi there,

I got myself a fantastic new macbook pro a few months back with a mbox pro and various other plugs/softsynths. I've noticed as time has gone on that certain files/docs etc seem to have found themselves in what would seem to be the wrong location. Could someone please tell me what files go where?!

ie softsynths, my protools projects, etc..

Aplogies in advance is this is a stupid question!
