Default Can anyone interpret this? (Avid's take on Control 24 w/ PT11)

From the Avid chat transcript:

A: Will the Control 24 work with Pro Tools 11?
Jeff Komar: No.
(Monday April 8, 2013 5:58)

Alexandre Brazil: will the Control 24 work in PT11?
David Peifer: The Control 24 may work but it is not tested or officially supported with PT 11.
(Monday April 8, 2013 6:04)

Jeff Steeg: Will the C|24 be supported?
Gil Gowing: C24 yes, Control 24 no.
(Monday April 8, 2013 6:05)

Kevin D Jackson: Will PT 11 work with a Control 24? Not C24.
Collyer Spreen: Control 24 - no. C24 - yes.
(Monday April 8, 2013 6:14)

Studio Dweller: Sorry for the repeat, but there were two different answers from AVID. Control 24 not supported or definitely won't work?
Gil Gowing: I was mistaken, Control 24 will not be supported but probably will work.
(Monday April 8, 2013 6:17)

Guest: Will work with Control 24 and the C/24?
David Peifer: Contro|24 untested but should work. C|24 officially supported and tested!
(Monday April 8, 2013 6:18)

Tom Arley: Is my Control 24 going to work on 11?
Collyer Spreen: No
(Monday April 8, 2013 6:31)

**************

So....Control 24 either definitely *won't* work in 11 (Spreen, Komar) or "probably" will work (Peifer, Gowan eventually).

Anyone know the Avid roster well enough to know which answer I should trust the most?

You can go by what this page says. It's not supported or tested, but will probably work:

http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...rue&popup=true

You can contrast that with the next category, where it lists products that definitely will not work, such as the older ProControl.

Yes, its very unclear. I guess we will have to wait till it comes out and someone actually tests it.
I sure hope it will still work.

Default Control 24 not officially supported but not in the will not work category

Control 24 not officially supported but not in the will not work category.

Does anybody know what this means to the control24 and PT11 .
Leads me to believe that it might just work in some possibly limited capacity.
If the faders meters and hopefully the transport section and all the above buttons function Im happy.

PT11 looks great and the improved metering will be very useful.
Whats the HD10 to HD11 going to cost I haven't seen that listed yet.

It's more along the lines of being a headache to get installed and operating.
Similar to the issue and headaches some people ran into installing the Command 8 on Windows 7.

The biggest thing they are doing is removing themselves from having to support the issues of getting it running by saying it's untested.

My just need a tweak in the Controller Profile to get it working so they may eventually offer a new Profile that installs and works with 11.
It would be reminiscent of when they dropped all those controller Profiles years ago then came back and added a legacy controller folder with them in it.

Yes I would like to hope so.
But some of these products are about to become legacy mkII products.
I personally say just sell us some kind of new program that will interface older products to the new products. Put a different Branding on it , then Avid can just say . Not something we are interested in but this company offers a product that will do exactly that. Letting them avoid the backlash for paid support on there own products. Then they can charge a stupid fee for legacy use. But not support because its not actually Avid selling it to us, They are just nice enough to let us use it.

WIN WIN with no liability on Avid. and generated income from products they sold years ago. WIN WIN
Money for nothing
and the best part is. we will be happy to pay it
Hows $200 a year for a Control24 driver sound.
or
$500 a year for legacy interface and control surface drivers.

MONEY FOR NOTHING
and they still would never be OFFICIALLY supported

Reviving this thread because the Avid page seems to have changed for the worse.

http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/c...nd-Peripherals

So the Control 24 is now in the "will not work" category.

I'm still holding out faint hope that there position was so confused previously that maybe this is an error. That said, if anyone has first-hand information on this please post!

Thanks

Just answered my own question by reading the thread a couple of slots below this one. (Where's that "facepalm" emoticon?)
