No deep sleep-No shut down??
First, I'll say this may not be a Digi problem, just a coincidence....
Now that I can't put my G4 to sleep with PT6 installed, I've been shutting it down when not in use. But after watching it shut down, I come back 2-5 hours later and find the system has rebooted itself, and is waiting for me at the login screen. Since I never used to shut my system down, I can't really say if PT6 did this. But I do know when I used to put my system to sleep, it stayed asleep. I would think if this was a different piece of software/hardware causing the problem, I would have seen the system wake from sleep. So has anyone else seen this? thanks |

Re: No deep sleep-No shut down??
There is another thread concerning the 'PT6 broke DEEP sleep' DD KEXT drivers basically disabled your ability to deep sleep. In short, Apple refers to this method of sleep as 'forced sleep', any KEXT driver has the ability to VETO a sleep request (like when you select 'sleep' from the Apple menu), the DD drivers always veto all forced sleep requests. In short, you are screwed and DD cares less despite the fact that SEVERAL people have posted this as a serious issue.
As for your Mac waking up on its own, that is indeed strange and I haven't heard of that before. Might be a dumb question, but when you shut it down, are you sure it is REALLY shutting down? |

kbahjat,

Is Energy Saver set to "Never"? It should be. Just a thought but; Is your computer connected to a power strip that you turn off regularly? If it is, and you have "Automatically restart after power failure" checked off in the Energy Saver Preference Pain, this could be the problem. Maybe... dk

Re: No deep sleep-No shut down??
Non no. I posted in the original deep sleep post when I first installed PT6. This is a much different issue. I do a shut down, and watch the system shut down. Then when I come back to start up again several hours later, the system is already sitting at the login screen.
Since no one else has concurred on this post, I'll assume it's my system and investigate other potential causes. |
