Red face Pro-Tools and Nvidia??

I recently updated my graphics card on my PC and was advised Nvidia was the best option. Since the change, ProTools is now a nightmare to use, i.e, initializing stalling, to plug-ins either not working and/or missing completely to protools crashing full stop. Is this caused by the graphics card and if so, is there a 'patch' I can download to remedy this problem? Many thx

There could be many things causing protools to crash. You didnt even tell us what model of graphics card from nvidia you installed.

Perhaps read this first: http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=193637

Thanks

Yeah, what other DAW won't play nice with a simple graphics card change? Are we back to Windows 98 or something?

2 odd things here. First, who told you that nVidia was the best route? Almost everyone here finds the ATI cards to be the most problem-free(the other odd thing being that my rig actually DOES work better with my nVidia card). Go figure

I have an NVidia card with no problems (just don't install the utilities!).

But, it also depends on the NVidia drivers. The later ones seem to be more unstable.

How can you tell if it's your graphics card causing issues with Pro Tools?

IRQ conflicts or using to much memory that's it's slowing down everything else etc... but mostly IRQ stuff (atleast in desktops, not sure about laptop)
