Default Re: 30" screen (or larger) ?

I use the 30" for the edit window, and my 24" for the mixer.

Oh, didn't realize you were spanning across 2 displays - my bad.

Is anyone out there using mirroring with 2 different resolutions?

Here's why I want to know - I have 3 different "stations" to work from - the main desk, in front of my keyboards, and a 3rd over the B-3 - each with a display, keyboard and mouse. All displays are at 1680 x 1024, but I need a bigger one at the main desk, and the largest available at that resolution is a 22" (I have a 21" now, and it's not big enough). I want to make that one a 27" or so display. I've done it before with dual displays at the desk, but I often jump back and forth so it's a pain when I need to adjust something from the B-3 that's on display #2!

I think you missed my other comment on this thread. I always have 2 monitors, but I switch sizes depending on the project. Apple does not control the monitor business. There is a new standard coming out to help with even higher resolutions than the 30". I find getting the right screen real estate and monitor positioning is a priority over which computer I will buy...

Three rooms I work in have 20" cinema displays as primary screens with 42" TV's as secondary. Helps a lot with the shoulder crouching of the clients.

I've tried DVI to HDMi from the Mac Pro to a cable with HdMi on one side and DVI on the other - weird banding and colors are washed. Going from DVI to VGA actually looks better, somehow. Maybe I need more expensive cables!

The resolution is never as amazing on TV's - even at 1920x1080 on the TV and 1680x1050 on the ACD. When you mirror the different resolutions, black bars and a smaller real estate 1680x1050 is shown on the ACD. The TV looks ok; but the primary display is all jacked with black bars and a smaller work area.

Hope that helps.
