Default am I the only one using 5.3.1?

Is the upgrade really important?

I've got everything working, so unless there's a really tangible benefit, I'll stay put.

I'm with you, BP. I just moved to 5.3.1 two months ago. I was told on another thread that getting rewire was "reason" enough to make the move to 6.1. But I can wait a month or two more.

Jup, ReWire is THE REASON for getting Pro Tools LE 6.1! But you get other cool stuff such as the "time trimming tool"!
The 5.3.1 ain't broken, but 6.1 is cooler

Im sure 6.1 is also programmed to run better on Xp then 5.3.1

There has to be various benefits and bugs fixed in it that will certainly cause me to buy it.

CP, I'm hoping that you're right. But have you heard or talked to Mac people that it 6.1 is in fact better with XP than 5.3.1?

And, how long will 6.1 stay relevant? Do you suppose that after all our brethren work with it a while and dislodge its bugs that 6.1.1 will really be the one to get?

I'm with you too, I still use 5.1.1 on WinME exclusively. Although I have a second system drive with XP and 5.3. I'm waiting to dump the latter and give 6.1 a try. So, you can have the best of both worlds by using a removable drive chasis.

Is there a potential version problem sharing sessions with other users, taking your files to a studio, etc.?

I'm assuming that any older version of pt can be read by a newer one, but are there any bugs?

I'm still using 5.3.1 for XP...

I did order the PTLE 6.1 upgrade, but I think I'll wait a few weeks/months to actually install it. (see how others are doing with it )
