DAE error -6086

a friend is having this problem with his mbox 2
he's a total noob in this recording stuff
i'm trying to help him out with this

i've looked around and haven't found an answer for this
he gets that error after playing or recording after like 20 seconds.
it tells him to increase the buffer
we did it, still the same message

i found a few posts with similar problems, i tried those suggestions and didn't work./

The Mbox 2 is incompatable with both the Intel 925X chipset and XP Media Center Edition. (Chipset is likely the show-stopper here as some here have gotten along fine with XP MCE.)

I don't think so. However, he might try an externaly powered USB hub. It's been written about as a solution in some cases. I have no first hand knowledge.

I didn't read the whole report but I couldn't see if he is recording to a physically different hard drive than the system drive. This is virtually a must.
