PtApp_AudioFileMgr.cpp error
Hi, today I got this message while trying to open a Session:
Could not complete your request because Assertion in "/Volumes/Development/223020/ProTools/App/PtApp/PtApp_AudioFileMgr.cpp", line 1985. The session opened fine a couple hours earlier for checking something. I quit it without saving. Other sessions open fine. Backups of the problematic session show the error also, up to a date (2 days earlier) when it opens. Restarted the system, etc.. same behaviour. What does this mean? I'm on a mac Pro 12.8 ultimate using native thunderbolt Any suggestion? Thanks!! |

I hope that its not this: https://variety.com/2019/digital/new...0V7bRn5tMW68fE
And avid's response on the DUC : Avid is aware of the reboot issue affecting Apple Mac Pro devices running some Avid products, which arose late yesterday. This issue is top priority for our engineering and support teams, who have been working diligently to determine and resolve the root cause. As we learn more, we will immediately publish information—directly to our customers and via our community forums and social media platforms—in order to resolve this issue for all affected customers and prevent any further issues. __________________ Administrator Avid Pro Audio Community |

Re: PtApp_AudioFileMgr.cpp error
This is extremely unlikely to be related to any of that.
--- Looks like a garden variety session corruption. Either roll back to the version that works. - or - Working on a copy of your current session (copy from the OS) try identifying what media file is corrupted or causing problems and just replace that file in the session with an older version or try deleting it and recreating that one file content if needed. Can you play that file in the browser/OS? (I'm guessing its' corruption in a single file but might be more, might be missing files or directories or the session file itself corrupted etc. Try replacing files and see). -or- Try an import into a new session. that might work or might fail at some point and provide a clue. |

Re: PtApp_AudioFileMgr.cpp error
Do maintenance! I've seen a very similar error and deleting Workspaces cleared it up:
