Default Master Fader clipping

I'm doing a project for school and my track is clipping only form the Master Fader. Previously, when it clipped, I could scroll down and see, for example, the snare clipping as well. I would just go and fix that and then the Master Fader level would be fine. Now, however, my Master Fader is clipping but no other tracks are. It's just once or twice but very annoying. it seems to be a bad idea to simply bring the level down on the fader itself so it doesn't clip since it affects the entire session that way. How do I find what is causing it?

You are summing all the tracks into the 2 buss, so all together they are causing the Master to clip, even though no individual track is clipping. If you like the mix - ie how all the tracks together sound - then make a group of your tracks and lower them all together so they don't clip the Master.

Cheers,

If its only clipping here and there, simply dragging the master fader down by a db or 2 might solve the clip. Personally, if I can eliminate the clipping by lowering the master less than 3db, that's what I do. If it takes more, then I lower all the audio and instrument tracks instead(by 4-5db). With post-fader fed AUX tracks, those can remain up as the signal fed to them will be lowered already.

You don't happen to have a plugin on the Master Fader that may cause this?

You might also experiment with putting the trim plugin as the first insert on your master fader and bring down the gain accordingly.
