Default Sustained Midi Notes Issue

I have just installed PT 2020.3 and I'm still getting midi notes sustaining when shifting/transposing notes up/down with the arrow keys in the editor.

The PT 2020.3 release notes state that this bug has been fixed (PT-258220) but it's not true at the moment.

Anyone else still getting this too?

Occurs on my system as well (Pro Tools Ultimate 2020.3, Mac Mini i7 w/macOS 10.14.6). Can you please start a support case via the Support Center link in your my.avid.com account? You can reference PT-258220 in the case. Thank you!

Still not fixed in Pro Tools 2020.5. Not sure what the deal is but having to wait around 6 months or more for an bug this small is not professional.

I’m having the same issue too. It’s strange. If I’m playing an instrument in Kontakt, The midi sustain and release from the pedal works perfectly when I’m practicing the part. As soon as I hit record, it’s like the sustain pedal is permanently stuck on and all of the notes just sort of all sustain into each other. But then when I play it back, it recorded totally fine. It only happens during the performance when I hit the record button. Very annoying and almost impossible to do any real serious midi.

Agreed.

Avid should adopt a "major" vs "minor" software release model for Pro Tools. The minor releases would be for maintenance and bug fixes. New functionality would be included in the major releases.

Many software companies are deploying new builds continuously now, with small, incremental, changes every few days. Avid's model feels like a throwback to the old days of large, infrequent, service packs. It's odd, considering how they are trying to reinvent themselves as a SaaS provider.

Interesting to watch people's expectations change. Avid's current scheme of an update every 2-3 months was billed as "more frequent." lol

I'd be annoyed at having to download and install an update every few days. Is it automatic and in the background, with no impact on workflow?

Agreed. This is a tedious and constant bug.
