Default M-Powered Question

Hi,
I will be switching from Sonar to Pro Tools very soon and after much deliberation I have decided to go with the "Pro Tools 9 M-Powered" option (mainly as budget is a factor ) ..

Also, as I need a second smaller interface for touring etc, I think I am going to kill 2 birds with the one stone and go with the "M-Audio Mobilepre" which comes bundled with "PT9 MP" at a very competitive price.

However I had a question in relation to "M-Powered".. I've read that it's tied to M-Audio interfaces, but it says on the M-Audio site that "M-Powered" is "session compatible with all pro tools systems" .. Does that mean that if I go to a bigger studio with a Pro Tools HD system, they will be able to open my "M-Powered session??

Yes, they will be fine on another PT rig.

I am assuming the bundle is a special with a local audio dealer?

This is the bundle I'm looking at...

http://www.thomann.de/ie/m_audio_pro...pmobilepre.htm

So will "M-Powered" sessions only open on HD systems?? ... The reason why I'm asking is because I was wondering if my brother will be able to open my MP session with his M-Box set up??

Sorry just a bit confused??

Any Pro Tools session can be opened with any edition of Pro Tools. Mac, PC, HD, M-Powered, LE, 9... doesn't matter.

Ok, so if you can open an M-Powered session on another system running for example PT9 with an M-Box... In what way exactly are you tied to M-Audio interfaces with "M-Powered"??

M-Powered as an application, will only work while your host (Mac/PC) is connected to an M-Audio interface (and of course an iLok with a proper license).

The sessions you create with M-Powered, however can be opened on any PT system.

BTW, what kind of host will you be running it on? Do you have a "proper" audio drive (not the system disk)?

Cool; before you make a decision on the drive, check-out this page (just to save yourself some grief down the road).

Wow! Thanks very much for that Hard Drive link.. I wasn't aware that area was a problematic. I just thought any Firwire HD would do the job.. You may have saved me from some very annoying future situations!! Cheers
