Default Help - Can't contain 'Reverb' with sends

Hi,

Previously I could get pro tools to contain the reverb for any instrument in it's own space by using the 'pan' controls in the 'send window' for the given instrument. However now, the panning controls only adjust the placement of the signal in the entire stereo field, and the reverb can't be boxed into a unique space for it. Strangely enough, this isn't the case when using 'sends' for delays which are working as usual.
Can anyone give me any suggestions on what could be causing this issue, which occurs regardless of the plugin i use or it's settings.

Thanks
Louis

Isn't the FMP (Follow Main Pan) button enabled in the send window? If so, disable it.

You have to pan the Reverb return (Aux In), not the send.

Panning the send to the reverb would only (attempt) to position the sound in the soundfield, but would still generate a stereo reverb. Just imagine an instrument in a room, even if you position that instrument to the far right, you would still hear the sound of the ER and Reverb in your left ear, it would just be a bit different than if you had positioned the instrument on the far left of the room. A stereo reverb should produce a similar result, but always sound in both channels. And the difference between something panned hard L vs. hard R can be quite subtle.

Now, if you loaded a multi-mono Reverb, you would only get reverb from one side or the other if you hard pan, and it would exhibit the behavior you may be after. As you pan more to the left the reverb generated by the L reverb will be stronger and the R weaker, which result in it seemingly to pan to that side.
