Why are there 2 Firewire ports on the SC48?

it's an actual ProTools LE interface, like a 003 : )

You can hook it directly up to a computer running ProTools LE (included with the SC48) - so in essence it's the 003's big brother!

any number of things. In theory you should be able to plug any firewire device into the port. but I wouldn't suggest it

for a laptop that only has one firewire port, you can plug the SC48 into your computer and then the hardrive into the sc48.
