Default Drum Loops: help a noob

hey,

I'm wondering what people use for stock drum loops. I'm mainly interested in acoustic loops, but some electronic would be nice. Mainly my interest was peaked when I was watching the digiTV stuff on elastic audio and I was intrigued by the idea of how you can have a big database of loops that you can so easily import into your proTools sessions.

Thanks in advance.

If you have a Guitar Center or similar in your area, then they have some for sale off the shelf for instant gratification.

You can also go to
big fish

And browse around a bit to see what type of selection is out there.. They have lots of stuff.

Make sure you check out loops that are in .wav .aif or rex formats for easy use in ProTools. Some of the sampler type formats won't work (I'm pretty sure).

I regularly visit second hand record shops and look around for old sample cd's. They can be from magazines or where ever and they are usually very, very cheap. Think i have collected close to 200 of them over a period of 12 years and i use them alot.

Most music magazine comes with a cd (or a dvd) these days and they usually have some sort of samples on them. I know that computer music have samples on every dvd they offer with their magazine and future music also offer it. Cheap way to start. Don't know if they're any good, since i don't own any.

Vengance makes some really nice sample cd's. http://www.vengeance-sound.de/eng/in...SampleCDs.html

But - hey - its a taste thing. Some loops, fit some people - others don't
Just because the sample was cheap, does not mean its bad

Happy hunting

I've used Drums on Demand http://www.drumsondemand.com and Beta Monkey http://www.betamonkeymusic.com/

Sometimes Beta Monkey has a deal on eBay

I just recently started using EZDrummer which so far has been a bit more flexible.

Have Fun!

Try Drumcore or Addictive Drums....or Strike.

Thanks everyone for the help. There are some great suggestions here.

I've been using ReDrum in Reason, which gets the job done, but maybe Strike or EZdrummer are the way to go. Definitely worth checking it all out. Thanks again.

- The Yamaha motif XS drum kits are pretty good. You may need to do some layerings on the kicks and snares to get them to sound even better.

- Check out www.industrydrums.com

- Native Instruments Battery 3 is not bad.
