It's in order to keep Custom Groups and the rest of the board independent of each other.
I thought that's what the blue lights were for.

I did notice that the Groups hold this flip, so when you switch to another group that isn't flipped and come back to the flipped group, they are still flipped. Make sense?? Not sure if this is good or not yet. Wow, it's another world with this thing!!!

Makes very good sence when you make different monitor-mixes its nice the sends are still "spilled" down to the faders when the musicians want more or less of something, you can quickly ajust the mix they get;-)
Only downside, - can be tricky tho, - because you cant see the name of the channels at the same time so you have to remember where is what..

Hi dmazurek,

Thanks for the tip. Though the workaroud will surely get me the faders grouped and on the surface in a similar fashion, I am trying to do as little button pressing as possible. For my work flow, the custom groups would be 6 page scrolls through the groups page to get the one I want. It's just not practical at all. Is there a way to make a short cut to just THAT group?

Thanks.

mike

no shortcut but.......

the last group selected, stays selected, which helps. Besides, even with Custom Groups, you be doing some paging since it works the same way, enter Custom Groups, and use the soft keys to select which group. And you only get 8 of them on the D Command, whereas with mix groups you got lots. Not perfect but it's working for me at least.

Can't you do this on a pro control? It seems so basic.

As far as having an Eq or Dyn plug in focus when you use the dedicated Eq or Dyn channel buttons on D-Control, this is not possible at this time. A workaround would be to just focus the channel to the center.

Thanks Gil but this still doesn't address the situation where, say, you're viewing inserts on all channels and you want to quickly adjust an EQ. So you press the "Select" button under the insert of your choosing. This should focus that EQ (and that channel) just as assigning the EQ in the first place does (when in ChanWn "Yes" mode).
As I said, it is not possible at this time. I will see about getting the request added to the list.

I've never used a Pro Control but I didn't think it had "focus" abilities. Didn't this functionality come in with the ICON family?

No PCs had it. It's just that it was terrible with nasty clicky knobs. I never used it.

I use the PC plugin editing all the time. I hit EQ on the channel, and change the EQ. I hit DYN, and change the dynamics. It's very easy, and very basic, and that the Icon can't get it together to have this is somewhat baffling.

Granted, the DSP editing section on the Icon is so much better, but it sort of proves my point even more.

It's typical Digidesign. They carry the ball to the 10 yard line and then drop it.

Actually this is not quite the same as what's been said. On the D-Control, if you hit the EQ button on a strip, that EQ's parameters populate the 6 (or 5 if your pan is locked on) pots on that strip. You can then page around to other parameters if necessary. The same goes for the dynamics. But in ICON speak this is NOT the same as focussing the whole channel.

The complaint to this point is that there appears to be no way of "focussing" a channel by selecting a plugin from the actual strip it's on. Judging from Gil's responses, this is an oversight with a fix possibly immenent.

There are 104 of them since PT 7.2 and you could assign no attributes to the group just to see its content in the groups section.

1. Select the tracks you want to view in groups.
2. Softkeys/Group/Create Mix
3. From the Attributes page, deselect all attributes and save as a preset.
4. Name and save.
5. Switch groups to mix/edit on D-command (press and hold groups button and press bank/cycle until the focus display shows groups)
6. Select group to display.

I will check into the possiblity of adding an easier way of creating custom groups on an 8 fader D-Command.
