Default i5-2500k 3.3GHz w/32Gb or i7-4700MQ 2.4GHz W/16Gb?

Hi all,
It's been years since I've used an DAW but I am now assembling a new home studio on a low budget. I have a desk top I can repurpose with an i5-2500k processor @ 3.3GHz (can be overclocked) and 32Gb RAM, or a Laptop with an i7-4700MQ @ 2.4GHz W/16Gb (maxed out). Whichever I choose, it will be a dedicated recording/mixing station. So which one would be better for running PT?

While I have M-Powered PT (8.0.5?) from back in the day, I plan on going with current PT Studio.

This time around my focus is recording for film/TV (cues, trailers, etc.), but I still will want to be able to multitrack record a live band. Once I decide on which computer I'll be using, my next question will be on choosing a (new) interface...but I'll leave that for a future post.

Thanks a million for your time and knowledge! - Kwall
