Default F800 and Digi 002 setup walkthrough?

Hi Guys,

I'm wondering if anyone can help me out here. I just got my hands on a Digi 002 and am looking for some detailed guidance on how to route my FF800 into pro tools. I know people have had great results with this setup. I'm hoping someone out there could help me with a step by step walk through from the FF800 to Digi 002 to pro tools. I'd like to be recording 8 inputs at 96khz sample rate from my fireface into pt.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

cheers,
.Ray

1st, you are wasting your time, CPU Power, and Hard Drive space recording at 96k. Biggest mistake newer people make. The vast majority of major studios record at 44.1. Do some searches over at gearslutz.com.

The only way to do 96k into Protools Via Adat is to go Mpowered and use the Lightbridge, which I think even at that point will only do 4 channels (Not a 100%) on that. 96k requires SMUX via Adat.

Otherwise, at 44 or 48, connect the Adat out of the FF800 to the Adat in on the 002 and the Adat out on the 002 to the Adat in on the ff800. That's all there is to it. When I had this setup, I found the performance to work better to clock the FF800 off the 002. I never liked clocking via ADAT, so I connected the FF800 via SPDIF as well and clocked that way.

I use a Rosetta 800 on one of my rigs the same way, except with a 003 and I can clock to the 003 to the Rosetta via Wordclock. Adding Wordclock to the 003 was a great improvement.

Works great.
