Mbox2 as a soundcard...Possible?

Newbie here trying to get up and running. I have everything set up correctly and I can record and play the recording back. However, I cannot listen to any other music on the computer (iTunes etc). I have set the Playback option in the Control Panel to the Mbox2 but I still get no sound. Any suggestions? Email here or to [email protected]

Do a search on the "MME Helper". This should do the trick!!!

This program allows you to add or remove programs such as Internet Explorer, iTunes, etc. from an entry in the Registry which is like an opt-in list which tells the WaveDriver 6.1.1 which applications to support.

Digi MME Helper also works with the WaveDriver included with the Pro Tools TDM and LE 6.4 and higher installers.

I am running Pro Tools LE 7 and the MME Helper says the Wavedriver was installed already.

Dude: While the MME Helper, helped me, there are still times when I am viewing Quicktime video from within FireFox, and the audio will only play through the computer's built in headphone jack. Not sure what the %@#%@# is going on.

Try removing and re-installing the MME Helper. Be sure that any 'shortcuts' (assuming you are on a PC) are pointing to the same .exe files that you are dropping in the MME Helper window.

I got the sound to come out but it sounds terrible, like its going through some effects or something. This is frustrating, how are you guys set up so you can listen to music on the computer? My main speakers are my powered monitors.....

I'm set up with 5.1 surround sound Sound Blaster speakers, and mbox 1 for Pro Tools only

I am about to get an Mbox 2 and I am pretty sure that I will have the same problem, being as I am not a computer minded guy at all. So I just wanted to jump in and watch this thread while I can.

I fixed it by using the soundcard on my GNX4 and running left and right outputs from that into the left and right inputs on the Mbox2. Sounds great now!
