Default OT. Eventide Reverb

Hi
The Eventide TDM Reverb is on sale right now - I don't know anyone who uses it. Could someone chime in on the quality and how it is compared to Lexicon.
Thanks!

I used to use it all the time and so, I bought their special this morning BUT their registration site, which you need to go to in order to send the asset to your ilok account does not work...it's a dead url. I wrote tech support, no answer today.

Also, it's a tad confusing when you buy it. They charge you for fedex shipping but it's a download so you have to write them to make sure they credit that charge.

All in all the experience has been totally awful so far.

Just thought I'd post this as a warning.

Thanks for the "warning" - I will have that in mind - any thing to add about the reverb?

I have the TC-Verb now and Altiverb and some others, but I have used Lexicon for many years - what would be the benefit of the Eventide. I'm mostly into "real" instruments and halls.

Thanks for responding.

Nothing to add yet. Hopefully I can get that baby loaded in tomorrow (when they fix their site) and I'll report back.

I do know I loved it way back when...but I think that was in the Mac OS9 days.

Hi,

The Eventide is a great transparent real quality verb! It sounds fab on lots of stuff and one of the best. Not as all round as the VSS3 and not as warm sounding as real Lexicon unit. Quite heavy in chip usage, but most quality TDM verbs are.

Alternatively... I know its not the same as TDM or native RTAS but the new SSL x-verb is by far the best plugin reverb available in my opinion. it does require a Duende unit or Duende PCIe card but the reverb alone is worth the cost of the Duende and reverb. the PCIe cards are about £350 and the verb is about £250, but you also get the SSL channel and bus compressor bundled with the card/unit.

Heard from tech support today 3_4_10

"Sorry for the inconvenience. The link seems to be undergoing some maintenance. Should be fine before the end of the day today. Thank you for your patience while we resolve this matter."

I know that if I was running a big sales special, right at the launch I'd start working on the registration process so no one could use it.

Strange.

I have that verb, and the hardware from whence it came. As far as verb goes, it's nice. I've never been crazy about Eventide reverb in general - kinda cold and sterile and rigid - so it's no surprise that I'm not crazy about the plugin either. It's just nice, nothing more, nothing less, IMO.

I STRONGLY prefer the new Lexicon plugin, or X-Verb.

I like it. It has a very different sound to it...rather digital which can be good in certain applications. Certainly worth $200 imho.
