Jetway NAF92-Q67 Network issues

I've been living with this problem for ever, but a situation has arisen where I think I need to fix it, so I'm fishing for ideas here....

Problem is this, when I have some network activity going on, particularly downloads, the computer appears to slow down to a ridiculous degree, the mouse & keyboard become painfully slow, so slow I generally can't select the location for Save As... until the file has finished downloading.

I've been trying to use Source-Connect plugin to stream to clients in a remote studio, but the stream is plagued with dropouts if I use my main PT rig, but I can happily stream from my MacBook so the network is fine.

Ay ideas?

Please tell us more so the community can help. What computer, OS and version of ProTools are you using? Have you tried any other tests such as building an external boot drive for your ProTools rig to isolate wether the problem is hardware or software related.
