Help? Building an HD 1 or 2 from used components!!??

So I gotta buy the bits and pieces as I can afford them over the next couple months....
Silly way to go about it, but "it is what it is....' (Dead line and finances)

Anything particular I need to look out for?
I'll be buying a PCIe Core, maybe an Accel (/Process?) card, and a 96 or 192 i/o.

Here's my questions:
Do various Accel/Process cards work with an HD PCIe Core?
Will Digi sell me a copy of HD?
Are there compatability issues between HD cards and versions of HD Software?
Will any different version of the cards work with both the 96 & the 192?

OK.... Just noticing that PCIe's are not working with PC's??????? Gotta go PCI????

I built my computer.... (PC, XP Home SP2)
She's a bit shnazzy. Shouldn't have any trouble I don't think.

Will Digi sell me a copy of HD?

My understanding is that Digidesign only sells PT software with the cards, that is a system like HD1, HD2, HD3, etc. So, one approach would be to buy an HD1 from Digidesign, then you can purchase Accel cards else where and add to give you an HD2, HD3, etc. Digidesign sells Accel cards separately, but you have to have a Core card first.
