Default Timeline Cached 100%, no matter what

Timeline Cached = 100%, no matter what size of my project and Disk Playback Cache Size. How is this possible? Am I missing something or is it a bug?

My current project is about 1GB in size.
My System Usage window currently shows (at different Cache Sizes):
  • @ 2GB Cache Size
    Disk Cache 49%, green
Timeline Cached 100%, green = ok
  • @1GB Cache Size
    Disk Cache 100%, orange
Timeline Cached 100%, green = ok
  • @ 512MB Cache Size
    Disk Cache 100%, orange
Timeline Cached 100%, green = what?
  • @ 256MB Cache Size
    Disk Cache 100%, orange
Timeline Cached 100%, green = what?
Using 10.0.1 w CPTK on a MacBook Pro with 10.7.3.

Too bad. I made excellent screen shots of my System Usage window but I don't seem to be allowed to post pictures in here.

PT chaches your time-line not the entire audio in your region list.

If you have 1 GB of audio in your audio files folder it doesn't mean it' all actually playing.

You probably only have a couple of MB of audio in your timeline.

Timeline is the amount of the song that is cached. 100% timeline cache means that your entire song is playing from RAM.

Okay.

First I had a hard time believing I was using so little of my audio in my timeline as it would even fit into my temporary 256MB ram cache. But I guess you're right. Most important, my ram cache works fine. =)

So, I guess the "Cache Size" value relates to the amount of disk cache being used by all of the imported audio in the 'clips bin'. At that time my audio files folder was about 1GB in size so that pretty much sums up correct then.

Thanks!

Ps.
Avid: It would be a great addition to have some improved file management / clip bin tools ready for the Pro Tools 11 release now that we have the precious Disk Cache - perhaps some of them aiming straight for managing and conserving valuable Disk Cache free space.
