Default Licence Query - What version of PT 12.8 Can I Run?

I purchased an Apogee Quartet Bundle back in 2016 with a subscription Protools Plan now expired.

I am currently running Protools 12.8 on OSX Sierra 10.12.5 happily, but Sierra is getting a little old in the tooth.

What I am wondering is whether I have the option to go any higher within Protools against my expired subscription plan that I didnt push upgrading at the time due to basically happy with the stability on Sierra.

My Ilok accounts shows a subscription plan was Deposited 17th August 2016, has an Expiry Date of 10th August 2018, so the question is can I move to Protools 12.8.3 under High Sierra which was released 19/12/2017 under that expired plan?

As there is quite a lot of effort moving to High Sierra due to Mac SSD File system changes, I dont want to try only to find has been a waste of time.

Getting head around licencing, especially with the added changes now has never been that easy.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

J

So long as the version you wish to update was released while your plan was active, it is good to go. And you can find it from Avid Download Center even if you don't have download link on your Avid Account.

Compatibility info here.

Don't get confused, let me explain some words Avid has been using lately.

There is a "subscription" PT license available, which expires once you stop paying. Also "perpetual" (non-expiring) license that you seem to have, which keeps working even if you stop paying but you can only use those versions that were released before "RELEASE LIMIT" date which you can find from iLok License Manager.

With subscription you would be using latest version, but cannot for example go back to PT10. With a perpetual license you have a Support and Update Plan (not subscription) that you need to keep active to get updates, but have access to every version released before the release limit date which in case of active plan would be in the future. (Avid Download Center only has downloads from 12.6 to current, if you need older you need to ask Avid Support for help, I think they can send you as old as 10.0.0 if you really want to).

As your plan has lapsed, you cannot simply "renew" it but need to call your favourite Avid Reseller and ask for "reinstatement" (of support and update plan) instead. Avid stopped selling those codes long ago, resellers are the only way to get your license updated. And no guarantee how long that option is even available.

Of course, "not supported" does not mean "not working" but when you are running unsupported configuration you are on your own with the random problems there may be.
