G4 450 + Digi001 + Logic
Greetings Listers,
I am beyond frustration, I have now reached exasperation - For those of you who have been helping me thus far thankyou (lenny, q6, smiley, rye), for those who are sick of peeon's like me who are stuck in the weeds - sorry for what basicaly amounts to the rookie spam you're getting in your email boxes. I have a G4 450/OS 9.1 with a Digi001 setup. I am trying to use Logic Audio 4.8 and have been having troubles with playback. I started by recording some audio from an external source through the card - this seemed to play back and work fine. Then, I imported into Logic some loops I had exported from Reason (in 24bit). This is when things started getting funky. The loops will not play back in the Arrange window, but WILL play back in the editor window (the window I get when I double click the wave form in the Arrange window). Now, the audio I recorded from my synth is behaving the same way, and 16bit loops are behaving the same way also... I have fiddled extensively with the output configuration, Audio Hardware setup in Logic (set to Direct I/O for the 001), the Mac sound Control Panel, and the Digidesign Control Panel, and been able to get Logic to play back through the Digi001 card a few times in the last 5 days... After I get sound coming out of my monitors though, I restart my Mac and I'm right back at block one, no sound, all over again... In the words of Charles Brown: "ARRRRRGH!" I have had a fellow lister send me a Logic environment which he thought would config the signal path properly by importing a supposedly proper audio layer. This just gave me a message that read: "! Direct I/O: 17 Stereo audio track and/or 9 stereo bus objects have been converted into a new format." HUH? Something confusing to note:The few times when I did get Logic running and playing back all tracks from the arrange window, The little CPU/Buffer usage meter was registering level, then, when I play back an audio clip through the editor window (which allways works), I do have sound, but no CPU level. There is also no CPU usage level registering when I play from the arrange window and hear nothing... Anyone who uses a similar setup or knows anything about the finer points of configing a system like this: PLEASE HELP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE~ I am just about ready to scrap the Digi001 and get another audio interface, which would set me back financialy, and thus, in time, something I don't need right now, but such are the measures of desperation... Thankyou for your time, Grant B. 505-577-1030
