Default 11R Question

Hi guys,

I apologise if this has already been answered, on a quick browse of the search function I couldn't find a clear cut answer.

I'm looking at setting up a small rack set-up for a B rig when I can't get the full rig to and from gigs. So here's what I'm thinking: 11r, power conditioner, tuner, cab, MIDI footboard.

Can the 11r be run WITHOUT a poweramp? So I could just have a 4U case and be done with it?

Cheers!

Ah? No the Eleven Rack puts out line or instrument level signals it needs to drive a guitar amp (instrument in) or FX loop return or a full range amp/monitor or direct to FOH or a combination of those. The manual that you can download describes all those options. If your venue provides any of those then using their amps may be an option.

You give no information about the venues or band or type of music, or the cab you already have.

If you want to save weight/space you can look at removing the tuner (esp. If its a large rack mount, the Eleven Rack provides a good tuner) and power conditioner (typically not needed/a power strip may be as useful). If you are carrying a 2x or 4x cab anyhow you might as easily carry a full range amp/monitor (e.g. QSC K series) especially for smaller venues.

Too much useless cruft in your "B" rig.

Get a two-space rack bag for the Eleven Rack. Get another padded bag for the MIDI controller. Throw the cables in the bag with the controller. Forego the power conditioner and tuner.

If you must carry a cabinet for your stage sound (I'd use the venue's monitors if I could) or for the backline, get a powered speaker. I think the QSC K-10 hits the sweet spot for size, performance and weight, but there are certainly other good alternatives avaialable.

I do the same with Yamaha DXR10, which is less expensive, but performs way better.
