002 distorted output - your help needed!
Hi Guys!
Been a long time since I posted my last post here... I see the things@DUC are as alive as they've always been. Great! I have a Q. regarding DIGI 002 - I am in some kind of misterious trouble and can't find the way out, if I say politely. Well, to be honest - I'M TOTALLY FREAKING OUT!!!!!!! It seems that somehow, "over the night" the DIGI 002 output started to distort; - all tracks, mixes, mono, stereo... played within Pro Tools are distorting, even though when bounced and played on other computer the files are OK, as they supposed to be. No distortion! - the same distortion is there when playing host applications like Winamp, Wavelab, e.t.c. - all audio output from any source played from my computer that has DIGI 002 (controller version) is DISTORTED AS IF YXOU LISTEDNED TO POOR GUITAR AMP. All the peaks are clipping. 1. I tried to play the sessions at + 6 and + 12 db, but no change 2. No, no clocking problems with digital outboard - Digi is a master, sources are OFF 2. Yes, I searched the DUC befor decided to (really) beg for help, but there seems to be no answer to my problem 3. My cables, connections, .... everything is OK PLEASE, I WOULD REALLY APRECIATE YOUR FEEDBACK ON THIS, SINCE I SOLD MY 001 AND THET MEANS THAT I CAN'T GO BACK... THE PROJECTS ARE WAITING AND I'M GETTING VERY FRUSTRATED, NERVOUS AND DROP A TEAR OR TWO OF ANGER EVERY NOW AND THEN - SERIOUS!!! Thank you very much again. Fedja |

Re: 002 distorted output - your help needed!
Hi Fedja,
Try trashing your Pro Tools and DAE preferences: DAE prefs folder for Pro Tools 5.3.1: Start menu > My Computer > Local Disk (C:) or correct Hard Drive > Click "Show the contents of this drive", if files aren't showing > Program Files > Digidesign > DAE > Right-click on the DAE Prefs folder and delete. DAE prefs folder for Pro Tools 6.1x: Start menu > My Computer > Local Disk (C:) or correct Hard Drive > Click "Show the contents of this drive", if files aren't showing > Program Files > Common Files > Digidesign > DAE > Right-click on the DAE Prefs folder and delete. Pro Tools prefs (all versions of Pro Tools): Start Menu > My Computer > Local Disk (C:) or correct Hard Drive > Documents and Settings > Your user file folder > Application Data > Digidesign > right-click on Pro Tools Preferences.PTP file and delete. Empty Recycle Bin and Restart. (If the Application Data file is not showing: Tools Menu > Folder Options > View Tab > Select "Show Hidden Files and Folders" > Click Apply and OK. Click on Back arrow and start again at Local Disk (C:) and repeat steps. Note: Make sure to empty the Recycle Bin and Restart the computer after trashing the DAE and Pro Tools preferences.
