Crash when importing audio
Hey,
I've been having issues with certain session files. When I try to import session data or import audio, PT's shuts down "Submit report cancel". Anyone have similiar problems??

Re: Crash when importing audio
Hi,
When I tried to upgrade to 6.4.1 on my mixplus system, I couldn't open any of my previous sessions (from pt versions 5.1.3 - 6.2.3). I would get to the "restoring audio files..." stage of opening a session followed by an immediate crash "submit report to apple..." dialogue. I also tried to import session data from an old session into a new one and it would crash with the same dialogue. I tried all the normal troubleshooting procedures (trashing prefs, repairing permissions,.....) without any change - so I had to re-install 6.2.3 which has no issues at all (other than the occasional crash when using Digitranslator to import an OMF, and the fact that every OMF import results in parsing errors [which digi has told me that I can safely ignore]). I never figured out the problem and no-one on the DUC seems to suffer from the same problem, so I will try again when a "maintenance release" is issued. My system: Dual G4/1.25 MDD, 1 GB Ram, OS 10.3.4, PT 6.2.3 (for now) with DT 2.0 and MC options MixPlus, ADAT 24 Bridge I/O, USD Canopus AVDC-100 2 LaCie External Firewire Drives I sure would love to know why 6.4.1 wouldn't work properly for me. |

Re: Crash when importing audio
Hey Drew,
Thanks for the reply..I know a couple of individuals who had the same issue but with 5.3.1 files...i'll find out if they got it taken care of... Yeah i'm still annoyed by the quirkiness of 6.4..I mean these session files are a couple of months old..created in 6.2 i beleive...there's no reason for this kind of behavior to happen... I started a new session and imported the session data, then imported my new audio...worked fine..THEN i tried to import more session data into the new session file and it crashed..unexplainable...i just imported 20 some odd tracks 10 minutes ago..now it doesn't work..explanation please anyone in the digi world?? JJJEEEEZZZZZ

Re: Crash when importing audio
I created a whole new session and imported all the session data from the "bad" session. now i try to add more tracks by importing audio...And low and behold...pro tools crashes with a submit report cancel dialog...
could it be a corrupted file somehow??

Re: Crash when importing audio
I have crashes from time to time, caused by import audio or deleting tracks. the screen turns grey and I have to switch off the computer. I run a dedicated machine with nothing but protools, reason, live. I feel that it happens more often when HTDM plugs (soundtoys) and reason is running.
