microphone pickup pattern
Hi folks!
Just wondering if you use the omni more/less than directional pickup when recording vocals/acoustic with a condenser mic (due to bass proximity)? cheers rich

Re: microphone pickup pattern
I always keep it in cardioid.
A lot of times the proximity effect is a desirable thing. It gives the voice body and depth. You should definitely keep it in mind when recording vocals and work with the singer to make sure he/she maintains a good working distance from the mike (closer in on quieter notes and backing off on louder notes - but generally with preset distance limits).
