Default Playback becomes mono when mixing OTB and print back to PT

So, this is bizarre!
I mix OTB. I print the mix back to the same PT session. I leave the stereo track that I'm printing the mix onto on input to monitor the mix. I print the mix, then take it out of record. I play it back, and it plays back in mono. The only remedy I found was to change the output to a different pair then switch it back to my normal output.
It's just weird, and this is getting pretty annoying. Is anyone else experiencing this? Y'all understand what I'm talking about?

Mac OS 10.12.6
PT HD 12.6.1
HDX x 1
AVID Omni x 1 - For Monitoring
AVID HD I/O x 1 - 16 outputs for summing & 2 inputs for printing the mix
UA Octo PCIe -I doubt this has anything to do with it.

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. It doesn't happen all the time, but enough to annoy me.

Trash prefs (always try that).

Does this only happen in one session? or copies of one session?

Is it mono coming out of one speaker or mono out both?

Try to create a new session from scratch and see if you can reproduce.

Look for multiple sends or master faders, hard to imagine exactly how but you could have them wrong then be turning up the right one after you switch them around.

Give up and mix ITB...

I'm guessing no one else has experienced this. I just did a mix this afternoon ITB, and it happened again. Not bouncing. Bussing to a master fader then to a aux track to process the mix then print to a stereo track. I print the mix, disengage the record enable button, then the playback becomes mono. I'm guessing it might be the plug in I use on the stereo buss. I'll have to contact AVID about this.
I've been a PT user for about 20 years and never experienced anything like this before.

Check out

http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=393214

sounds like same issue that presents itself in different guises -for me it was turning off elastic audio on a track and getting a double left playback rather than strict mono. Same fix as you but I havent run OTB for a while and tried that but cant see why any different to just recording in stereo and that isnt a problem

Sorry havent listed my spec but here it was 12.7/8 on osx Sierra i7MBPR MH2882 and builtin/out but I havent tested it on 12.8.2 - if it happens on stereo recording I'll be up in arms
