No... Just add more SSDs
An ideal system should be separate drives for each of the following:
OS SSD
Audio SSD
Samples SSD
Backup SSD

Yeah, I'll probably go with 3 SSDs (OS/audio/samples) and no partitioning. Plus, this will simplify my transition from 3 WD black spinners to 3 SSDs, and keep my workflow comfortable and consistent. For backups, I'll keep using spinners cuz I've got plenty of them laying around already.

I would suggest using separate drives instead of partitioning for the simple reason that SSDs slow down as they fill up so any extra data should be avoided.
I also would not use an SSD as a backup drive because there is no reason for the extra cost if that's all it's used for.
I can't imagine what would make anyone think that partitioning an SSD would give a performance boost that makes zero sense.
