Default Install AAX Plugs Without Having Pro Tools 11 Installed

I have been rebuilding my music computer, and am getting ready to install more plugins than I realized I had.

I hope to buy "vanilla" PT 11 while the special is going on, but I don't have it yet.

Can I go ahead and install the AAX versions of my plugins without having PT 11 installed when I install the other plugin formats?

Just trying to avoid having to do another plugin install if I'm able to get PT 11.

Thanks, guys...

(And if you want to, you can give me a "bitchy" reply to "get me back" for the "bitchy" replies I have been guilty of giving lately!)

Hey Bill

I would think you need to have PT11 installed first as the folders the plugins install into wouldn't be there until the actual software was in place

This is of course only my "guess" but it would make sense in my head.

Best Regards
Christopher

As long as the software/plugin is compiled correctly and the directories are set right by the manufacturer (which they always have been in my experience) if the pre-set directory does not exist, it will be created for you.

So if you do not have Pro Tools 11 installed you will not have Program Files>Common Files>AVID>AUDIO>Plug-Ins as a directory/folders, that being the string that's used for AAX64 bit plugins.

However, all of these folders will be created for you when you install an AAX64 plugin. This is not just common to Pro Tools plugins, the same happens for VST's even if you don't have Cubase, Sonar, Reaper, ect.... If you are installing a video plugin for Media Composer you could also install the Premier Pro or After Effects versions even if you do not have those programs and the directories will be created for you. Ect... ect...

TLDR; Yes.
