Default Entering Timecode into the Big Counter...

How do you enter timecode into the big counter without using the mouse? Been trying to find a way where I don't have to click to enter the hour minute second and frame, like a TAB or something to go from the hour to the minute?

The decimal point key works in the Edit window, does the Big Counter require using the asterisk? Interesting.
Never entered TC in the big counter (for whatever reason), usually I only have it up during a playback for clients to see.

Thanks!

REally? Is that a PT8 thing? I have 7.4 here and the decimal point key doesn't do anything regardless of which numpad "transport" preference I select.

If I hit "." Then a number then "." again it will locate to that marker number. But the only way I can enter numbers into the counter in the edit window or mix window is with "*". If you hit the "/" on the numpad it will let you enter numbers into the "Start", "End" and "Length" fields.

Also, another handy shortcut, the modifiers "+" and "-" will work in the counter and "Start/End/Length" fields to add/subtract time. If you are at 1:02.000 and you hit "*" then "+" "2" and enter it will move the cursor forward by 2 seconds. It will also work with bars|Beats, Timecode, Samples, etc...

So many shortcuts, so little time :)
No, PT 7.2 here but I have a feeling the only reason it works is because I'm first clicking with the mouse in the TC location field on the Toolbar in the Edit window, and I'm having a feeling I've been adding an extra step for myself for a LONG time now
Go easy, I only recently discovered (after 15 years) the D, F, & G keys for fades........

Just re-read your post; I'll give the "/" key a try, thanks!

Oh yeah, once you are in the counter, the "." key will move to the next field. But instead of clicking, try "*". It should get you into the counter without needing to use the mouse. the / key will basically do the same thing as *, but you can then continue to set an end point and a selection will appear.

Awesome,

Using the asterisk I feel like I'm writing backwards when entering time code though. It seems like it should enter the numbers from left to right vs. right to left. For instance, I should start on the hour, move to the minute then the second. Why would they have me entering the hour on the frame and then shifting the numbers? This doesn't make sense to me.
