Deja Vu - ADAT problems with Tascam FW-1884 and 002R
I had this problem 3 years ago, and then I fixed it. I have moved the 002R and the Tascam FW-1884 to a MacPro, and I cannot get the ADAT working properly.
In troubleshooting, I've tried hooking it back up to the G4 that this system had been connected to previously, and hooking just the FW-1884 to a Mac Pro with a Digi 002 board. These are the problems I'm having: - I can get analog signal into the FW-1884 on each channel - The 002R and 002 can use the FW-1884 as master for the clock (by changing from Internal to Optical) - The FW-1884 can use the 002R or 002 as master - I have changed the settings on the FW-1884 Control Panel to have analog 1-8 going out through ADAT - I have reset the I/O to default on all of the systems - On the tracks that I'm trying to record, I have ADAT 1-8 as the input But I get no levels on these ADAT tracks. This was working so well for so long with the G4, I guess I should have just let it be. But now, it doesn't even work with that computer. It's annoying being able to record only 4 mics again - any thoughts? I've tried this on 3 different computers with 2 different Digi systems. I don't have spare optical cables, but I'm hoping that since each system can recognize the clock signal from the other that shows that the cables work. I've trashed the preferences also. I'm running Leopard on both of the Mac Pros, the G4 is still on Tiger. Elsa |

Re: Deja Vu - ADAT problems with Tascam FW-1884 and 002R
Have you set the option for Optical=ADAT in the Hardware Setups dialog in Pro Tools?
Do you have another device you can test the output of the FW-1884 with? You could also try a loopback test in Pro Tools with your optical cable to verify that both input and output are working. Just connect the optical cable from the out of the 002 to the in on the 002, create 8 tracks with some signal generator tone on them, set their outputs to the ADAT outputs, create 8 new aux input tracks with their inputs set to the 8 adat inputs and their outputs to analog 1-2, press play and see if you get meters on all tracks. |

Re: Deja Vu - ADAT problems with Tascam FW-1884 and 002R
Hi,
Yes, I do have Optical = ADAT selected. I don't have anything that isn't Digi hardware to test - I have tested it with 2 different Digi 002s (board & rack) on 2 different computers, but we don't have anything else with Lightpipe input/output. I'll certainly test the ADAT ins/outs and cable as you suggested, assuming it does work, I don't know what the next troubleshooting step is. Everything seems to be set correctly. Elsa |

Re: Deja Vu - ADAT problems with Tascam FW-1884 and 002R
Did you ever get this working? I'm having the exact same problem with my FW-1884. No input signal on the ADAT input in PT coming from the Tascam.
