TASCAM FW-1884

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE TASCAM FW-1884 FIREWIRE BOARD IS COMPATIBLE WITH PROTOOLS 5.1.3 LE WITH A DIGI 001, A G4 1.0GHZ, AND OS 9.2? ACCORDING TO TASCAM, IT'S RECOMMENDED FOR NEWER SYSTEMS, BUT WORKS WITH MAC OS 9.2. IF ANYONE HAS USED IT SUCCESSFULLY WITH 5.1, LET ME KNOW.

i wish i could say anything but i only have used it with macos x

there are macos 9 drivers you can download and i think it should also have an utility window where you can put the fw1884 into HUI mode for controller settings.

You just plug in an adat cable out your fw1884 into the digi001.
choose analog:adat in settings (that utility window)

can you run macosx ?

the fw1884 will improve your sound !
i compaired them with a digi002 and i like the tascam conversion much better.
the digi002 outclasses the digi001 in sound also.

Thanks for the info. I can run OSX but then I have to run a newer version of Protools and I would have to buy some new plugins because some of my older ones aren't compatible.

try the utility panel
you can still use it as A/D converter and no midi control
but i doubt it giving problems as HUI controller in macos 9

but you never know because i couldn't get my fe8 expansions work properly under panther, while tascam said they would
in tiger no problems
