Default 3930k Tweak Advice

Ok, I'm getting ready to get back in the game with Win7, PT11 and a 3930k, X79 MB and DDR3 RAM. I've been researching "THE thread" for the correct parts and system tweaks.

Is all I need to know on the front page of that thread (plus Avid upgrade and system tweak advice)? Or are there any bits of info in regard to this build, or this processor in particular, that isn't on the front page that you would like to add?

OC'ing advice?

Worth upgrading to 11.2.1?

Thanks.

Having just built a similar setup myself, what is shown in the thread, and what Avid lists as proper system tweaks covers things pretty well. As for OC'ing, with this rig, you shouldn't need it You may also want to setup your RAM in manual mode and match settings to your exact RAM(and I hope you installed 4 or 8 matching sticks to take advantage of "quad-channel" mode as that should give the best performance).

Worth upgrading to 11.2.1 from what version?

Check the ReadMe docs for the updates to determine if any of the fixes are necessary for your workflow. For example, you'd want to go to 11.2.2 if you do heavy MIDI work with offline bounce (there's a time alignment fix).

Yep, I did get 4 matching sticks to take advantage of that. I wasn't too worried about the need for OC'ing. I'm not drooling or anything Just curious. I will set up the RAM in manual mode. Thanks Albee.

Upgrading from scratch. I meant upgrading from the base PT 11 install. I'll check the Read Me to see, thanks Mesaone.
