Focusrite with Pro Tools
I have the Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 and I'm using it with Cubase Pro 8 but I'm transitioning to Pro Tools. Is there anyone that uses Focusrite with Pro Tools? Maybe this interface specifically?

I have the Scarlett 2i4. Working flawlessly here! Do you have a specific question?

Re: Focusrite with Pro Tools
Have been using a Scarlett 2i2 for a few weeks with a MBP 2012 i5, OSX 10.10.4 Yosemite and Pro Tools 12.1 Native...
perfectly fine here ! No software needed, Class Compliant Mode means just plug and play and it does work. Nice feature this Direct Monitoring/true 0 latency function. Was able to record VIs at 64 samples without any problems. Fairly impressed by this little box! Great performance and amazing sound quality for this really low price . As mentioned above, flawless performance with PT12.1, OSX Yosemite on a 2012 MBP i5...here at least. |

Re: Focusrite with Pro Tools
Lots of problems/issues on PCs!
See http://duc.avid.com/showpost.php?p=2281007&postcount=30 for the latest/most relevant. Also, as I indicated on your PT vs Cubase thread (post #38) I used it (on PCs) too with the Beta and released drivers. My experience suggests that the released version is the lesser of the evils. It requires fewer workarounds and seems more "stable". As documented in the link in that post, other than it's distortion at 48 kHz sample rates (independent of DAW and driver), PT doesn't compensate for it's record latency (RTL) properly with that driver - if you even care about that (most apparently don't notice/care). Re: Focusrite with Pro Tools
18i20 here, no issues. I usually use my Project Mix IO though, I use the 18i20 for mobile recording with extra inputs from my ProFire 2626 when needed (ADAT).

Re: Focusrite with Pro Tools
It is a funny world. I'm considering the exact opposite transition.
Well, It is my impression that the Scarlett issues are more machine related (driver, USB3 etc.). Once you're "in", like you are with Cubase, and you have made it to the ASIO/CoreAudio layer, hopefully it should be downhill with Pro Tools as well. However, it is always a good idea to download the trial version and give it a test drive. Unfortunately, even the trial version demands the darn iLok (version 2).

Liquid Saffire pro 56
Saffire pro 40 Windows 7 64 bit ultimate, windows 10. Pro tools 10 11HD, 12HD No problem beside not being able to change the buffer size/sample rate from within pro tools, which happens to be the same like 99% 3rd party interface maker. |

I go mobile with the 18I8. It works a treat.

Re: Focusrite with Pro Tools
The main thing to consider when using a PC is that WDM takes priority over the driver thus is the reason why you have to match sample rates in your windows sound preferences. You can also disable the interfere in Windows sound to avoid this extra step.
