Hi, SE is pretty limited. But i would assume you can record midi information in it. You should be able to setup the TD 9 as a controller.

It will take some work to assign in the TD9 brain to set each pad a midi transmit number and then just set the TD9 as a midi controller

How come no one from Avid has said anything!! If I swore and abused them they'd make a reply with an hour I bet. Just a straight question looking for a straight answer from Avid!!!

This forum is supported by users of Pro Tools. This is not a forum for AVID support. While Avid support personnel do post on here and answer questions occassionally, 90% of the posts are by users helping users. Thats why its called the DUC - Digi USERS Conference.

If you want guaranteed AVID support answers for your question, then you have to buy a support ticket.

Still doesn't answer my question, that apparently, no one from Avid can be bothered to even answer!! Maybe someone from Avid, who works for Avid Technical Support could answer the question here, on the Avid Audio Forums, which concerns the Avid Product, Avid Protools SE. Still you might be correct in implying that no one from Avid actually knows how to answer whether or not Protools SE can run midi via a digital drumkit. Excuse me for even asking Einstein!!

This is not a company support/technical service forum. They may answer a question from time to time, but they are not required to on this forum. Read the term of use. This is a user forum, which means 99% of the answers on this forum will be provided by users. And like it was provided to you before, yes you can record midi information in Pro tools from your electronic drum kit. No you do not have to set it as a controller. If it's usb, just plug it in, set up an instrument track in pro tools, set up your favorite drum vi (I use superior drummer 2), record enable and start record then play your drum. It's all there is to it.

And let me be clear about this. If you can use a keyboard and record a midi part with it, then you can do the same with a drum kit. Why? because midi is midi. It's not midi from a keyboard.. it's midi information that's all. And if you had made the slightest search at all on google or your favorite search engine (pro tools se record midi information) you would have found the first link to be an AVID TUTORIAL

If you want technical service directly from avid, which by they way td9 is rolland not avid, so Avid is in no obligation to render you any assistance on a product of a third party even if it's to be used on pro tools, you can always buy and asc and call them.
