Hi,
I work on a Mix Plus system and just bought some more ram for the Mac(G4 450). I had a quick look at what memory it needs at apple.com before I went to the shop. However, the OS claims that the DIMM (PC133) I put in is incompatable.
One of the other engineers claims that Macs need special Mac memory. Is this correct, are they fussy about what memory you use or was I just unlucky?

you probably bought PC RAM. To my knowledge, you need ram made specifically for the MAC. Interestingly, the new dual g4's are able to use the PC ddr ram with no problems.

I believe that is false, you do need a specific flavor of ram, however I don't think it is specifically mac. Check out Crucial.com, they have a good FAQ section on mac memory.

Most likely the problem is that the ram has the wrong refresh rate. There are other specs like CL2, CL3. There are issues like "fast page mode", etc.
