64bit
hello, the only reason i am currently not updating from PT8 to PT9 is that i may switch from cubase 5 (or later) as soon as there is a full 64bit version, incl. adapted RTAS plug-ins. are there any news? thanks, marco

Re: 64bit
Except for being able to use more RAM, 64 bits won't buy you much in a DAW. Yes, you will be able to use more VI but how many of you are running into problems with not enough RAM? I don't use many VI so 64 bits means little to me.

Re: 64bit
well, as soon as you are working with orchestral libraries, 64bit is a must just because of RAM indeed - looking forward to.

Re: 64bit
There are ways of getting around that if you want to work in ProTools.

Re: 64bit
i have been using separate machines for years, but any way around it is not as elegant as having it inside, so to say - the same counts for sibelius, actually.

Re: 64bit
so protools 9 will have a 64-bit version come march? and they are gonna charge for it?
when cubase 5 was released you got 32 and 64 bit for the price. you didnt have to pay more foro the 64 bit version . . will we be able to run 32 bit plugins in it without bugs? (because i know cubase 5 is having HUGE issues with that....so much so that you have to go buy another piece of bridge software to even use 32 bit plugs in 64 bit

Routes each track directly into ProTools through an AUX track. Piece of cake. Carl

A single instance of Sample tank 2 can run over 500MB easily. 64 bit does not only increase the amount of memory available to the host computer, but also increases the amount of throughput in the CPU. With myself only having 3 GB of RAM, i plan to upgrade. I would like pro tools to be able to use a machine to its fullest extent. IMO, it should be here before 2012. Nick

As much as id like to believe it, i doubt it. There is no way they would script protools 9 in 32bit, and then re write to take advantage of 64bit. It wouldn't make sence. Nick
