Default Pro Control Edit Pack

I'm about to order a new Pro-control system with an Edit pack and I would like to know that if I do not need master audio controls, would I be able to do without the main Pro-Control Unit?

No!
fader pack is an extension... (the main softwae is in the pro-control, fader pack only have software to interface with the pro control)

go for a HUI or a motor mix if you want to save 10 000$.
