Default "NO INPUT" when i start a session??

hey guys, im very new to this. If i start a session and show mix, i cant select which input i want to use. I have a Mac g5 os x tiger 10.4.11. i have a whole other internal hard drive set up for my protools only. Im using the original mbox with phantom on for the condensor mic. It is plugged into source one as instrument because its connected with a 1/4 inch. Any ideas??

First of all, you can't plug a mic into the instrument input as it won't get phantom EXCEPT from a mic input. Also, instrument inputs are, typically, unbalanced. Phantom MUST be supplied to a balanced input or the 48-volts will short to ground.

By saying you "can't select which input to use" does that mean nothing shows up in your input pulldown menu? Does ProTools SEE the interface?

You say you're using the MBox. You should be posting this in the LE forum as this is the M-Audio forum, NOT to be confused with MBox.

Are you running ProTools LE software or M-Powered? That could also be the problem... if M-Powered and you're trying to use the MBox, you should get a warning that the interface can't be found, because you have the wrong interface.

Give us more info, or try re-posting in the LE forum.
