Default distortion on Mbox

Anyone run into this before? I have the Mbox and LE 6.1 running on Mac OS X. Many times when I go to play back audio or bounce a file, I'll hear a small pop in my monitors, and the audio will be completely distorted, as if the machine can't process it fast enough. When I stop and play again, it's usually fine, but it's very time consuming. I've got a gig of memory on my machine. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

do you have Waves plugins?

If so, there is a new Waveshell 4.0.1 to download that fixes this problem. Go to their website to get the download fix.

If you do not have Waves plugins, I do not know what causes the pop/distortion

i'm not sure what this is, but i occasionally experience it as well. but strangely it's not always consistent (one playback will have it, then right after it won't show up). and it only happens when i record/playback vocals (when i record, i don't notice any pops or distortion, but i do when i hear it back).

here's another question for folks. sometimes when recording vocals, the gain meter does not clip, nor do the waveforms "hit the wall", yet i hear distortion. is this just an overload of the converters, or is it my mic (Audiotechnica 3035)? or is it just my imagination??????

Be shure to have it in "mic" pos. when using a mic.
